ASFB Life-Time Memberships
Background and Purpose
ASFB’s existence and functioning is reliant on the generous voluntary contributions of its members. Life-time memberships are given to individuals who have demonstrated dedicated service to ASFB.
Conditions
Life membership is conferred on individuals considered to merit such recognition by the Society in the manner described below.
Award criteria which may be considered
A selection or combination of:
Long-standing (multiple terms) in ASFB executive council roles
Running and contributing to ASFB sub-committees
Consistent participation in conferences and workshops -organising, attending, presenting, judging awards
Multiple publications for the society (workshop proceedings, special edition, papers, newsletter editing or contributions)
Representing the society- media, World Fisheries Society, Science Meets Parliament, etc.
Always contributing to ASFB
Welcoming, helping or mentoring new or existing members
Note that eligibility for this award does not necessarily require science, publications, etc
Process
This award will be at the discretion of the President. Nominations will not be called but suggestions can be made to the President (see https://www.asfb.org.au/executive-council and click president) throughout the year.
The President, in the final year of office, may place before the Council or a designated sub-committee of Council, nominations who have demonstrated an outstanding contribution to the Society for an honorary Life Membership of the Society.
If approved, presentation of Life Membership will be made by the President at the next annual general meeting.
